BCTF takes place in April each year in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.

The dates move around from year to year depending on when Easter falls, but in 2019 the dates are 7th – 9th April.

Our makers come from all over Britain and so do our buyers. Our venue, the Great Yorkshire Showground, is located a few miles outside Harrogate town centre, providing easy access, free parking for all, and a wonderful, restful environment for buyers and makers alike.

If you’re coming for more than one day, and you don’t happen to live within easy commuting distance, you’ll need to spend a night or two in Harrogate.

That’s no hardship. Harrogate is a wonderful place to visit, full of excellent restaurants and sights for the whole family, so make your buying trip into a mini-holiday.

Harrogate has a wide range of accommodation available starting at very reasonable rates. You can even camp on site if you prefer!

Only British… Only Handmade… Only High-Quality

Visiting a trade show can be hard work – multiple halls full of exhibitors who are selling things you have no interest in. You can waste hours just trying to sort the wheat from the chaff.

At BCTF, every designer-maker has been vetted by us to ensure they match our strict criteria:

  • They must be living and working in Britain or Ireland (regardless of country of origin)
  • They must be making by hand, or in small batches (no mass-manufactured goods)
  • Their products must be of a high quality

We bring you the best of new talent and our mentoring program ensures they’re ready to deal with the trade.

Over the years, BCTF has introduced thousands of new young makers to the trade. Many of these makers have gone on to become the most well-known and respected makers of their generation.

But for a new maker, dealing with the trade can be daunting. And you, the buyer, need to know that a young maker will fulfil orders reliably. That’s why, in recent years, we have formalised the help we’ve always offered new makers and created out Mentoring Programme.

New makers are now entered into a three-year programme of assistance and offered subsidised rates on their stands.

Year 1 – the Newcomers Gallery – is for fledgling makers doing their first trade show.

Year 2 – Post Newcomer – for makers who have already exhibited with us in the Newcomers Gallery, and for those with limited trade experience who have been trading for up to 5 years.

Year 3 – Main Hall. By now a maker should have gained experience and confidence and can exhibit alongside well-established makers in the Main Hall. But we continue to support these makers by offering subsidised prices on stands.

A truly relaxing experience.

Attending a trade show can be hard work, but not BCTF. While we can’t control motorway traffic, everything else has been designed to make your buying trip a pleasure.

If you have to stay away from home for a night or two, you couldn’t do much better than Harrogate.

The Yorkshire Event Centre is just a few miles outside town, set among rolling fields. When it’s time to take a break, sit outside and enjoy the view.

Hall 1 was completely rebuilt less than two years ago and is an award-winning,  state-of-the-art facility – light and airy, with plenty of room for everyone.

BCTF is a TRADE-FAIR open to professional buyers

We know how annoying it can be for professional buyers to find themselves rubbing shoulders with members of the public looking for a bargain.

Not at BCTF!

Every visitor must register to receive their personalised invitation. And every registration is checked to ensure that is is from someone with a genuine connection to the craft and giftware business.

As a buyer, you are of course welcome to bring a family member or friend to accompany you on the trip. We will give them a visitor badge and admit them free of charge without the need to register – we don’t want to waste our time or yours sending emails to people who don’t work in the business!

BCTF isn’t just a three-day event!

Every exhibitor gets a page in our online catalogue, BCTF Online. As a registered buyer you will receive access to this catalogue, so you can find great new products every day of the year.

An exhibitor’s page will show 3 – 5 images and about a hundred words of text to describe who they are and what they do. It will also include contact telephone number and email and a link to their website.

If you’re interested in only certain types of products, glass, say, or ceramics, you can specify your requirements in the search options. You can even look for makers within a geographical area!

Want to attend BCTF 2019? Register now.

When you register with BCTF we will add your details to our database. Each month you will receive our e-Newsletter and, about two months before the date of the show, we will send you a personalised invitation.

You don’t need to register for every show! If you are already registered you will automatically receive your invitation, but don’t forget to let us know if you move address or your other contact details change.
