Jane Pritchard is a ceramicist based in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. Originally trained as a graphic designer, she changed career after taking part time ceramic courses at City Lit London culminating in a MA in Ceramics (UCA Farnham) in 2011.
Her current work is based on the theme of renewal and how our built environment changes organically over time. Focusing on the beauty of worn and degraded surfaces, she uses natural oxides and texture to juxtapose 'imperfect' antiquity against 'perfect' modernity.
Her work is handmade, mainly in porcelain for vessels, with the addition of stoneware and slipcast bone china for the wall pieces. With copper, cobalt, iron and manganese oxides, coloured slips and gold leaf and tin & chun glazes.
