The Heart Gallery Best Newcomer Award is only open to exhibitors in the Newcomers Gallery at BCTF. It is presented in recognition of quality of design, craftsmanship and good business skills.
The winners will be selected on originality in creating distinctive pieces that will excite and delight our many visitors.
The Heart Gallery are committed to discovering and nurturing emerging talent so are delighted to offer exhibition space to the Winner and Highly Commended, along with a certificate recording their achievement.
Alongside this fabulous opportunity we will support the winners across all their main social media platforms. We will also offer a mentoring session, in regards, to portfolio preparation for approaching galleries and venues, the session will also include help to develop further their creative practice.

Entry for this award is automatic and is open to all the makers exhibiting. The judges will select a Winner, and 2 Highly Commended. They will be Judged on Professionalism, Skill, Workmanship, Design, Creativity, and Stand Display.
Pyramid Gallery has been representing British crafts in York since 1982 and has been owned and managed by Terry Brett since 1994. All craft disciplines are represented.
The Winner's prize will be a solo exhibition in 2019/2020 held at the Pyramid Gallery in York and will run for a minimum of 4 weeks.
The prize for the two Highly Commended winners is a joint exhibition in 2019/2020 held at the Pyramid Gallery in York. Again, the exhibition will run for a minimum of 4 weeks.
Along with this fantastic prize all winners will receive a certificate presented to them at the award ceremony.
